Why Am I Forced To Have a Phone?

This is due to FCC policies on how S&T can offset the cost of providing service in rural areas like yours– telephone service is and always has been supported by government funding because rural areas are expensive to serve; because of this supported service & the way Internet is delivered to you, this regulation actually allows S&T to provide its customers with Internet access at a more affordable rate. At this current time, sufficient funding to support Broadband in rural areas without phone service is not available.

Help change the way funding occurs! Contact Chairman Pai at ajit.pai@fcc.gov and let him know that the future/current need lies on Internet- not landline phones and that the funding model should reflect that.
